Hi everyone.

My name is Zach and I am a documentary photographer and graphic designer currently working in the beautiful state of Washington.

I’ve been a lifelong resident of the Pacific Northwest and draw on the endless supply of beauty around me in all of my work. The place you define as your home also defines the look of your work, so there’s a couple thing you should know about me before we get started:

• I drink coffee like there’s no tomorrow. 

• I’m a grunge-era kid and still wear Doc’s every day.

• My hiking boots permanently live in my car.

• So does my rain jacket.

• I’m meticulous about quality without being pretentious.
  

Oh, and there’s some other stuff you might find interesting too. By training and education, I’m a classical trumpet player who has been surrounded by brilliant creatives my entire working life. All those people – their stories and experiences – have shaped the way I think about design, about how to tackle tricky problems, and how to effectively communicate complicated subjects in a way that is accessible to any audience.

My ‘day gig’ for a whole bunch of years was working as Senior Visual Designer for the Oregon State University College of Liberal Arts, where I focused on on photography, graphic design, advertising and promotion for the fine and performing arts. Before that, I worked in educational outreach for a few other universities where I had the opportunity to organize and manage marketing outreach programs that reached well over 200,000 students across the western United States.

One important fact about me: I never miss deadlines. It hasn’t happened yet and I don’t plan on it happening any time soon.

Freelance Professional Musician
(1998-2019)
I have been a professional freelance classical trumpet player since 1998 and have performed with professional orchestras, ballet companies and opera companies throughout the western United States. I have also recorded for movies and television, and performed extensively as a commercial lead trumpeter with jazz ensembles and theatre productions in Washington and Oregon.
